The hindu Article on Kadlpura Audio Book  By Charukesi
Kadal Pura’ is now available in audio form.

After Kalki, Chandilyan wielded much influence on Tamil readers, through his historical novels. Following the release of Kalki’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan,’ in the audio form, Bombay Kannan has given audio shape to the most popular of Chandilyan’s novels, ‘Kadal Pura.’

Chandilyan had a huge fan following for his historical novels, especially among the youth, racy narration and descriptions accounting for his popularity.

“I have done this only for those who cannot read Tamil and those children who want to know more about the history of the Tamil land. This was made possible by the generosity of my friend C.K. Venkatraman, whose support is invaluable!” says Bombay Kannan, who has produced and directed the audio version. Both the CDs run for approximately 43 hours.

“From the stone inscriptions of Rajendra Chola, we come to know how Tamils crossed the seas and involved themselves in trade, besides taking part in the warfare in the region. I read about the route they traversed, the marine vessels they used, as well as the war methods they practised. I could understand the valour of the Tamil community, their civilisation and the lurking dangers involved in their pursuits. I was eager to share these aspects with the readers!” quotes Bombay Kannan from the late Chandilyan’s foreword to the novel.

“All those who have lent their voices, such as Dasarathy, Veluchamy, Ramesh, Jayakumar, Sabapathy, Ilango, Raman, Kalpana and Vanitha have done justice to the characters. The background score by Vivek Narayan enhances the listening pleasure.

The audio book was launched recently at Tag Dakshinamurthy Auditorium in the P.S. High School, Mylapore, under the auspices of Brahma Gana Sabha.
